How to 'Watch Together' when watching Russell Brand - Our Little Lives: Shakespeare & Me?

For the Russell Brand - Our Little Lives: Shakespeare & Me, we're offering a 'Watch Together' pass. This allows access for yourself and 3 others.

If you have purchased the "Watch Together" package for Russell Brand, you will receive your 3 extra codes to share with your friends the day of the event!

Your friends will have to create a LIVENow account (instructions here) and redeem the code you sent them (more information here). You will need to be able to choose the same event in order to be able to watch it together.

Watch Together allows you to watch the live action together with your friends in your very own private room.

One of your group can create a ‘room’ and invite three other friends where you'll be able to see, hear and chat while watching the live action in front of you.

Steps to Watch Together

  1. Ensure that everyone in your party is logged in to their own LIVENow accounts
  2. Make sure you and all of your friends have access to the same event - you should all see a countdown clock to confirm you have access.

Creating a Room

One of you needs to create the room and then invite the rest of your party.

  1. Click on the 'Start Room' button within the Watch Together Panel.

  2. For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome on your computer with headphones.

  3. Enable your camera and your microphone by clicking 'Request Permissions' and then 'Allow'.

  4. Then click 'Join' to start the room.
  5. Next, click on 'Invite Friend', copy the link and send it to the friends that you want to join you.

Joining a Room

  1. The first thing to do is to make sure you have access to the event you are going to watch.
  2. To check this you have to pay for the event and you should see a countdown clock. If you've purchased the Watch Together package, the other people watching with you will have been sent codes to redeem on our site as a way of purchasing the event.
  3. Then click on the link that your friend has sent you. This will take you to your own private room within the event.
  4. For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome on your computer with headphones.
  5. Enable your camera and your microphone by clicking 'Request Permissions' and then 'Allow'.
  6. Then click 'Join' to get access to the room - where your friend should be waiting!

Hmm... it is not working...

Ok, don't panic - we have answers to most problems below.

I didn't arrive in the room

First off, ensure you are logged in to your own LIVENow account.

Check you have access to the event.

Check the URL you send to your friends contains the following information:

If it doesn't, then you haven't sent them the link to your room, just to the general event. Follow the steps above to send the link when you are already within the Watch Together feature.

My stream keeps jumping

With Watch Together rooms, we synchronise all users to the same moment in the stream.

If you are experiencing a frequent jump in the stream it may be because your Wi-Fi connection and/or device is struggling to keep pace with the other participants. You will therefore be jumped to where your friends are in the stream to ensure you are watching at the same time.

We recommend shutting down other programs and making sure your device has been restarted recently to optimise performance.

Sound is coming from another users computer

We recommend all users wear headphones to get the best audio quality.

If you cannot use headphones, we recommend reducing the volume of your audio or muting it entirely to optimise the experience for everyone in the room.

A friend's camera has frozen

Someone’s connection to the room has been frozen or been interrupted.

This can usually be resolved by the interrupted user refreshing their screen.

If the problem continues, it is likely that the user is connecting from a restricted network that may be causing their connection to you to drop.

I cannot hear one of my friends clearly

Some devices automatically adjust your microphone input volume based on a variety of factors. This can usually be solved by accessing the properties for your audio input device and turning the setting up.

A user may mute themselves so that nobody can hear them, or you can mute them yourself. If a user mutes themselves, the microphone icon on their camera will turn yellow with a line through it. If you mute them, the microphone icon will turn red with a line through.

Why can I not use Chromecast for Watch Together rooms?

Chromecast cannot cast multiple video streams at once.

For the big screen experience, our current recommendation is to connect a laptop to your TV via a HDMI cable. When doing this, set your TV as the primary screen or an extended screen. Do not use the screen mirroring setting as this will affect the video performance.
